ABOUT

offDAC is an off-chain feminist Decentralized Artistic Community exploring the intersection of Feminism, Art & Technology through online and offline Digital & Analog Creation.

offDAC is based on three principles:

  1. transparency (as the foundational concept for the community's activities, content, decisions and financing)

  2. openism (as a philosophy for creating feminist open hardware, digital and electronic devices and prototypes)

  3. sharing (knowledge, information, tools, ideas and opinions)

offDAC emerges as a response to the traditional DAOs (Decentralized Autonomous Organizations) and DACs (Decentralized Autonomous Corporations), which we believe, as of 2023, still lack sufficient inclusivity to be the primary choice for community building. This is mainly due to engaging individuals already familiar with crypto and blockchain, as well as prioritizing profit-driven projects and corporations relying on automated management.

Besides directly referencing DAOs and DACs, the acronym DAC, in audio technical terms, stands for Digital to Analog Conversion. This allusion relates to the sonic approach that the offDAC community aims to pursue, in combination with open-source digital technologies, electronics and artworks that we seek to bring together and incite conversations on urgent topics from a feminist perspective.
